The Review:

I guess I can only blame myself for this one, but hey, when you want a bloody mary… you want a BLOODY MARY. Anyways, I met a buddy for happy hour at Smack Shack and naturally had to grab a bloody. While I was expecting a nicely garnished bloody with some fancy cheese and some sort of shellfish speared nicely on a skewer. , I was disappointed in the overall presentation. It consisted of a cheese curd which appeared to be the runt of the curd litter, one olive, and a banana pepper. I was a little let down on the overall presentation to say the least. Not even a pickle?! Now the celery salt rimmed on the glass was pretty a simple mix, nothing special and didn't add much.

The bloody itself was pretty cheese pizza. In other words, it got the job done and wasn’t bad by any means. Overall it had a nice and savory taste with hints of Worcestershire sauce and celery salt, with almost no heat. Naturally I was able to take it down no problem but was very underwhelmed . Overall, a very average bloody mary. I anticipated something a bit more coming from a finer establishment but hey I guess they weren't on their game? This is why I feel this one earned a 1.5 out of 5 pickle rating. I really didn't want to give such a low rating for my first bloody but in this game there isn't any charity.

While the bloody fell short, I must say the Happy Hour menu was awesome. I indulged in a few mountain oysters that were fresh and a little zesty when paired with the vinegar-based sauce that I drizzled over them. If you’re an oyster rookie I would strongly recommend trying Smack Shacks!! I followed that up with some fries and finished things off with their Smack and Bleu sliders. These two little guys were fantastic! The bleu cheese paired with the perfectly cooked patty and savory BBQ esqué sauce… Well it was out of this world to say the least! These little guys are a must if you ever can manage to make it to the shack for a quick Happy Hour after work.
